Sous-chefAll the boys slept in this morning, except maybe Henry who got pancake breakfast ready with Bro. Nielsen. I told the boys they are reLly going to regret becoming 12 year old scouts because I don't cook nearly as good as Bro. Nielsen.they had pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, SunnyD, bananas, basically The Works! Once breakfast was done, we played fruit basket until it was time to go home. Overall, it was a fun, soggy, well-fed campout. Can't wait for the next one.

Day 5 - Afternoon
Everyone has been trying to squeeze in as many last minute requirements as possible while still saving room for some of the more fun activities. Morgan, Dan, and Kurt all decided to get the Chess MB after lunch while I think Nick was finishing up leather. Sean and Lee Ninde had entered th tomahawk throwing competition, so I decided to head down to High Adventure to watch them represent troop 349. Sean ended up medaling in the youth category, and since he adult category was pretty much just Lee, I entered to give him someone to compete against. The boys have had a blast, bu I think they are ready to come home and rejoin the land of the showering (plus there's a stake dance on Saturday night). We pack up tomorrow morning and head home after flag ceremony at 9. We should be home around 10:30 or 11 and I'll drop them off. I am already getting excited for next yar when we will have Henry Sanderson, William Bird, Porter Elmer, Tanner Diehl along for the ride, they are going to love it. See you when we get home tomorrow!
Day 5 - Morning
As I was sitting here thinking of what I would share with you this morning about camp, a scoutmaster walked up to me and said, "I just want you to know tha you got a sharp group of boys. I was helping out with the Citizenship in the community merit badge and Morgan is really sharp and knowledgeable. I hope he continues on and gets his eagle!" It doesn't happen frequently enough, but he recognized what you already know, that, these are some fine young men! With your help and support, I will do everything I can to help them become the men that we all know that they can be. Now, on to the pictures...
Day 4
Today, I spent most of the morning in Scoutmaster training, but the boys were so busy rocking out the MB's I don't think they even noticed I was missing. When I finally got out of training around lunch time, Morgan and Kurt had knocked out another Citizenship in the community MB , Nick and Dan had knocked out Geology and Indian Lore, and Sean had Cooking and camping mostly completed with more to come this evening. I think we are currently have earned a cumulative of 16 - 17 MBs with a day and a half to go. They are on Fire! After lunch, they all took of to hit up some more stations and I decided it was time for a little scoutmaster fun, so I took Sean with me to the Rifle range to duel it out with him. Unfortunately, my aim was not as true as his, but I still held my own and put five rounds within a quarter multiple times (eat your heart out Kody)! Tonight, they are showing the movie "Frozen" at the Mead Hall and apparently it's going to be an impromptu sing along, so I will definitely have to get pics and videos for you all to use for black mail purposes later on.
Sean showing off his rooster hair.
No shortage of awesome things to do here.
Prepping to show Sean who's the boss on the range.
Sean proving that he's the boss! (Yes, that's 4 rounds through the same hole done with a bolt action .22)
I gotta give myself props though, after 9 rounds, I was markedly improved!
We also get friendly visits from the local wildlife here in camp. Too bad he wasn't just a little closer to the rifle range.

Day 3 - Afternoon
Today (Wednesday) was family day at Chief Logan and we were fortunate to get visits from the Diehl's, the Birds, the Babbs, and Jeff Lape and his friend Travis who spent the night with us. I wish I had gotten pictures of all the boys with their families, alas, maybe next year. Though they wouldn't probably admit it to you guys, they were really glad you came out to visit! Those who stayed, got to enjoy a fun Campfire, where the boys put on a skit for the entire camp which went over with moderate success (though by the boys own estimation was the third worst performance of the night)! In other news, at the Order of the Arrow ceremony (the BSA honors program for exemplary scouts) held immediately after the campfire, our own Sean Murphy was called out to join the ranks of the OA. Congrats Sean! He was pretty excited and surprised at the honor. After campfire, we went back to our own campsite and Nick Bird and Travis taught us all how to play Mafia, and may I say, Kurt Diehl had some of the most elaborate ways to kill us all off. To wrap up the evening, one of the boys, and I'm not going to name names (ok, it was Nick), found a "HUGE" wolf spider hanging out in his tent and Bro. Ninde had to wake up and escort the animal out of the tent for him. Nevertheless, Nick decided to spend the night under the camp common shelter with the rest of the boys rather than risk a return visit from his new hairy friend.

I don't think there is a happier camper than Mr. Kurt Diehl

Day 3 - Morning
After failing to bring home the ping pong trophy las night, we had to console ourselves with pizza and Ski (local soda). Last night was much drier and cooler than the first and I think the boys were grateful for that. This morning Jared, Kurt, Morgan, and Dan, knocked out most of their Citizenship in the World merit badge and are over there on the patio now finishing it up. They are kicking butt on their required badges and doing the hardest ones in camp. You should be proud of what they are accomplishing, they are really getting a lot accomplished and building some important relationships and really starting to unleash their potential. Let's keep the fires burning!
Day 2 -Afternoon
After lunch today we went outside and joined everyone for a fun game of ultimate frisby, shirts versus skins. For the first time this week the shirts won. After the game some of us went to earn more merit badges.and a few of us went to practice for the upcoming ping-pong tournament. Nick B. Finishes second. After we finished we went back to camp to enjoy some pizza and camp fire while brother Elmer played his mandolin. Over all it's been a well spent day. - Sean Murphy

Day 2 - Morning
We got a lot of rain last night, but everyone stayed dry and snug. At breakfast, they chowed down on hot biscuits and gravy and sang camp songs. Some were more into it than others. After breakfast they split up and headed out to the different stations. I know at one point I saw Dan Ninde shooting over me on a 40' zip line with a huge grin on his face hoot in' and hollerin'. After lunch, the whole camp gets together to play ultimate frisbee and of course Sean has to bring his legendary talents to the field along with Nick!
Day 1 at Summer Camp
Yesterday we arrived at Chief Logan Reservation bright and early and after getting checked in, setting up camp, and doing our swim checks, we were off! The boys lost no time in getting into the spirit and charged off to all the different stations quickly earning environmental science ( a hard required) and camping. There have been no complaints so far on the quality of the food, just to the portion sizes, boy can the guys eat! Troop 349 volunteered to retire the colors last night, and put on a fine example for the rest of the troops here. After closing flag ceremony, the boys headed back to camp to weather the storm that rolled in later last night. They played some games and really started bonding. Make sure to have them teach you how to play Moya when they get home.
